This is one of my favorite things in Afton's room at the moment... it makes me happy. It also stimulates cognitive activity.
Two positives in my book.
You can make one too using two embroidery hoops, scraps of canvas trimmed to whatever size you like (I painted a canvas in a bunch of colors I thought would look good in Afton's room - you can cut up a plain canvas, someone else's or paint your own), fabric scraps and whatever else you want to stick on there to add to the madness.
Just wrap your hoops with fabric, I hot glued strips on as I went, string the canvas, and fabric on lengths of thread and secure (tightly) to the hoops making sure the inner hoop has longer lengths than the outer hoop.
There's really no method here beyond just creating a mish-mash of what you like and what lends itself to the vibe of your nursery.
I hung Afton's mobile with fishing line and a cup hook screwed into the ceiling. Another lovely perk is that the fan has a super cool effect on the mobile, think whirly-gig spin toy. It grabs attention for sure.
As with any mobile, make sure it's hung high enough and secured tightly enough to keep from being a hazard to your little one, I'll probably raise mine up a bit more before it's all said and done.

Rae
Hey Rae! I am really sorry that I haven't been commenting- I just realized that I never updated your new blog address so I wasn't getting alerts when you were posting (what, has it been a year since you changed blog addresses? lame excuse, but a true one.) It was so much fun for me to get caught up on your pregnancy and to a part of the room! I am so glad that all is well and I'll be reading regularly now :)
